YALES2 Training Session

Description: This full 3-day training session targets new users of the YALES2 code but time will be dedicated to the new features of the 2022.10 version.

Day 1: Training session
9:00 – 12:00: Introduction

  • general presentation of YALES2
  • collaborative development platform (git, gitlab, wiki, doxygen, …)

13:30 – 17:00: Incompressible solver (ICS)

  • main parameters (restart, dump, postproc dumps, stats, probes, temporals, scalars, …)
  • practice: isothermal flow tutorial

Day 2: Training session
9:00 to 12:00: Numerical methods

  • code structure and quality control
  • finite-volume schemes
  • integration of the Navier-Stokes equations at low-Mach number
  • linear systems

13:30 to 17:00: Variable-density low-Mach number solver (VDS)

  • description
  • combustion models: tabulated and finite-rate chemistry
  • practice: Rayleigh-Taylor test case, simple flames
  • dynamic mesh adaptation

Day 3: Training session
9:00 to 12:00: Two-phase flows

  • Lagrangian, level set, spray solvers
  • practice: corresponding AVVTs

13:30 – 17:00: Any other topics

  • other solvers: explicit compressible solver, linear acoustics, heat transfer, …
  • coding
  • practice: your cases
